Preparing your home to sell
Posted by William Stewart on Friday, December 9th, 2011 at 12:18pm.When a buyer looks at a home, the last thing they want to see is a laundry list of repairs and to-dos.
Those looking for real estate, whether it is in Greenville SC or other areas, are searching for homes in as perfect condition as possible. If you compare two homes for sale with similar features and price, the factor that weighs heaviest is the condition of the home.
Obviously, homes are lived in and with all that living comes bumps, scrapes, and dents. But most of us have the tendency to get used to the imperfections in a home for sale and expect potential buyers to as well.
Unfortunately, this is not the case. Most buyers will immediately see things that we overlook every day. Having a real estate agent who can review your home with an impartial eye is crucial. We are trained to see the best ways to improve your home and have tips and tricks to quickly and inexpensively get it in the best condition possible.
Many of the problems in a home can be quickly and easily fixed in a couple weekends. Repairs of loose steps, peeling paint, cracks in drywall, new kitchen hardware, broken or cracked windows are typically inexpensive too.
If you are considering putting your home for sale in the next few months in the Greenville SC real estate market, take an impartial look at your home's condition and begin repairs now.
A cheap way of getting an extensive to-do list is to enlist the help of a friend who will be firm and fair to let you know what they see. An even better way is to hire a home inspector to do a professional check-up of you home. Not only will they inform you of hidden problems, they can help you avoid a nasty surprise when a potential buyer orders a home inspecition.

This is great advice for home sellers. Having a professional or even a friend look impartially at your home can really open up your eyes to what potential buyers see.

A wonderful way to alert us when we sell a home. Stewart shows me here that you have to take care of the problems with a home when you are going to sell it. I can see why I would need a real estate agent when I sell my home. They are very experienced, and could see the problems that I cannot see. Thnak you for letting me know why it is so important to fix the "little" problems.

When someone comes to look at your home, the last thing they would want to see, is a list of all that is wrong with the place. Wherever they are looking to buy, let's face it, they want a home in top peak shape. Yes we all realize that a good home will be lived in. But the main thing to keep in mind when wanting to sell your house is, the buyers will notice things that you yourself will obviously overlook. Most little problems can be fixed quickly though so don't lose heart. Get a friend to come inspect your home to give you some advise on what needs to get done.

Is it strange that my girlfriend and I have just bought our first house and we make it a goal to spend at least 1 hour a day (more on weekends) doing things to improve our property value? We bought the house knowing there were a list of to-do's, and we're doing all of them because we view this as an investment. The more we can put into it, the more a new buyer will get out of it.

Great advice once again from William Stewart. Attention to details in renovation before selling a home can require the eye of a professional because let's face it, we as sellers may not have the degree of oversight and experience in identifying what needs to be checked before showing a home to the prospective buyer. I will definitely consult William's services towards preparing my home for sale.

As a previous home owner, the shape of your home is very important. You need to consider a potential buyer will notice the landscaping as well as the inside of the home. Make sure your home looks comfortable. This gives a potential buyer an idea of what the home will look like once everything is all put away. Keep your home clean and neat.
